SUBJECT: Rules Governing the NLA Parliamentarian

Introduced by: The Collective Bargaining/E&GW Cabinets of the Oregon, Montana, Minnesota and New York State Nurses Associations

Action: Passed 3/22/07


WHEREAS, Article I.G states that the UAN shall be governed by Robert's Rules of Order-newly revised; and

WHEREAS, Article VI.B.1 states that the NLA is the UAN highest governing body; and

WHEREAS, an expert in Robert's Rules of Order is a parliamentarian; and

WHEREAS, the flow of the NLA is governed by the Executive Council with advice from the parliamentarian; and

WHEREAS, in the 2006 NLA the parliamentarian had to fulfill dual roles;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that henceforth the NLA be served by a professional registered parliamentarian who has no other duty for UAN, and whose sole duty is to advise the Executive Council and NLA delegates with issues of order.
