SUBJECT: Resolution on Changing the Date of the NLA
Introduced by: UAN Executive Council
Date of Resolution: May 2, 2003
Action: Passed 6/23/03

WHEREAS, at the 2000 National Labor Assembly (NLA), the delegates voted [unanimously] to change the date of the NLA in order to facilitate participation by collective bargaining RNs, many of whom have difficulty securing days off in June; and

WHEREAS, surveys of collective bargaining RNs between 2000 and 2001 have confirmed that UAN nurse members will be able to participate in the NLA more easily if it is moved to late winter or early spring; and

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of all UAN members to facilitate and maximize RN participation at the NLA;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that commencing in 2005 the NLA will be held in late winter or early spring,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the UAN support and work towards having ANA Convention (HOD) time changed to a time away from summertime.
