SUBJECT: United American Nurses (UAN) Hall of Fame

Action: Resolution adopted on June 27, 2002
WHEREAS, the labor history of ANA, the SNAs and the UAN together spans a period of more than fifty years, and
WHEREAS, during that period many incredible and unselfish contributions were made by nurses throughout the country to advance the labor movement and the economic and general welfare of all nurses, and
WHEREAS, the significant contributions and sacrifices of these early nurse pioneers of the labor movement should not go unrecognized or forgotten, and
WHEREAS, while some of these leaders are no longer with us while others have become legends in their own time, and
WHEREAS, it is more than appropriate that the UAN recognize and honor these great leaders for their contributions to our proud history and acknowledge them as role models for us all,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the United American Nurses establish a UAN Nurses Hall of Fame to honor nursing leaders and living legends who have made major contributions to the advancement of nurses and nurse's workplace issue and the labor movement, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the first inductees into the UAN Hall of Fame be selected to be honored at the 2003 meeting of the UAN National Labor Assembly.
