The strength of UAN lies in its nurse leaders. UAN stands alone among national unions in that its work is entirely directed by staff nurses who are democratically elected by other staff nurses.
That’s why it’s critically important for staff nurse activists to get involved in the UAN—your union.
There are many opportunities for leadership in the UAN—from service on the Executive Council to the Nominating Committee.
Elections are conducted at the annual NLA meetings. The president, vice president, and two directors are elected in the even years. The secretary-treasurer and two directors are elected in the odd years.
Information about nominating someone for election to a national UAN office at the 2009 NLA will be available in December 2008.
