Sandra Falwell, RN Director

Pediatric nurse Sandra Falwell was elected to the position of UAN director in 2003. An RN for more than three decades, she has worked in neonatal transport and the NICU at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for more than 30 years.

Falwell has been active in union work at the local and city-level, helping in a successful drive to organize nurses at her facility, Children’s Hospital, with DCNA in 1996. She subsequently served as chief shop steward in her bargaining unit, and the bargaining unit chair. Her past work on the negotiating team helped Children’s Hospital nurses win the highest paying contract in Washington, D.C. at that time. Falwell serves as Third Vice President of the DC Metropolitan Labor Council.

Falwell is a past-president and vice president of DCNA, and former chair of the DCNA Economics & General Welfare Cabinet. She is a past-recipient of the Edith Beattie award for service to DCNA. Photo by Bill Burke, Page One, 2003.
