UAN Constitution

UAN’s founding constitution was ratified by delegates to the UAN National Labor Assembly in 2004. It lays out provisions for membership, election and responsibilities of the Executive Council, affiliates, dues, jurisdiction and trusteeship.

UAN's constitution…

  • affirms individual RNs as members
  • provides for affiliation with AFL-CIO and ANA
  • establishes a democratic governance structure led by staff nurses with the NLA as the highest governing body
  • protects members' dues, representation and services through the Executive Council working with state affiliates and, as a last resort, trusteeship authority.
