UAN's National VA Council (NVAC), made up of the presidents of the 22 UAN local bargaining units in the VA, elected officers (who make up the NVAC Executive Committee) and the UAN Executive Council liaison, meets periodically to strategize and solve the unique issues facing nurses in the federal system. All those serving on the NVAC Executive Committee are staff nurses in a VA medical center.

The 2008 NVAC elections will be held on May 15, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo Hotel in Buffalo, New York, for the offices of NVAC vice president, secretary-treasurer, and director (2 positions). To be included in the advance NVAC Candidate Profile Book, nominations must be submitted to the UAN no later than April 10, 2008. However, nominations are open until closed during the NVAC annual meeting on May 14, 2008.
