Stay the Course
Once nurses have made the decision to come together and made that decision public, expect that management and anti-union forces may try to impede your freedom to exercise the right to form a union.
Inoculate prospective union members by telling them in advance about union-busting tactics—and pointing these tactics out to each other when you see them. You’ll hear many employers threaten loss of flexibility and bankruptcy, undertake a "we're a happy family, give us another chance" campaigns, caution that “the union is an outsider/third party,” promise to grant raises and resolve differences and the like.
When you are on the lookout for these smokescreens, they’re easy to see through.
