As an RN, you have a legal right to organize into a union, regardless of where you live or what employer you work for.
Staff nurses in many hospitals have been organizing themselves into unions since World War II. When Congress passed the Health Care Amendments to the Taft-Hartley Act in 1974, protections of the National Labor Relations Act—including the right to bargain collectively—were extended to non-supervisory employees in all health care facilities.
Though employers and those who oppose unions may suggest otherwise, your right to organize is guaranteed by U.S. laws.
