There is clear evidence in support of annual fit-testing for respirators, which protects against tuberculosis and other airborne pathogens. Particularly in this new era of SARS and possible flu pandemics, it is critical that we utilize every tool at our disposal to ensure that nurses and other first responder health care workers are protected so they, in turn, can protect the public.
